Elsa J Smith is a licensed Bilingual (Spanish/English) clinical social worker who earned her Master’s Degree from the University of Pennsylvania. Elsa utilizes a trans-theoretical approach that is client centered, considers the individual person in their environment and has included evidence based practices such as Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Solution Focused Therapy and Emotion Focused Therapy into her treatment to name a few but does not limit herself to only those unique holistic practices.
She loves life and people and is the Founder of Nu Beginning Center, LLC. The love of those two things has shaped her into who she is today and is the reason why she does what she does. She believes every person has potential for greatness in them and that with the right direction, counseling, and insight everyone can live extraordinary and vibrant lives. She has a wealth of experience in helping develop others and helping them become all they are called to be. She has had the opportunity to counsel children, youth, and adults/families over the past 15 years using different approaches like CBT, TF-CBT, Trauma Informed Care, and will explore current cutting edge approaches to engage advanced status (DBT/EDMR). She has been gifted to identify the greatness that lies within people to help counsel and impart wisdom and to help individuals flourish on every level.
She has worked with non-profits, governmental organizations, mental health facilities and acute crisis settings for over a decade. Her goal has always been to get a good understanding of how people think and why they do what they do. She has assisted individuals to understand and grow in areas such as purpose and destiny, family and relationship dynamics, and emotional and mental well-being. She has been able to accomplish this because she has been able to integrate her understanding of mental challenges and social work principles to give her a diverse and unique understanding in order to implement strategies that will help the whole person.
